Biography

Valbona Banka is an Albanian writer of literature for children and young readers.

In her work she treats the world of children and adolescents through stories that weave together adventure, human relationships, humour, and social and educational themes. Her characters meet situations and choices that lead them towards discovering themselves, their relationships with others, and the world around them.

Banka is the author of nine books: “Aria – Hidh e prit!”, “Aria – Fët e fët!”, “Aria – Në dorën time”, “Zgjohu Kërshëri!”, “Mister Ash – Oazi i sekreteve”, “Tekno – Broni”, “Lustër, për një përrallë”, “Arratisje pa plan” and “Bota e padukshme e adoleshencës”.

Her books have been honoured with literary awards in Albania and Kosovo. “Aria – Hidh e prit!” was named Best Children's Book of 2022 by Bukinist. “Aria – Në dorën time” was named Best Children's Book at the Tirana Book Fair in 2025. “Arratisje pa plan” received the Best Children's Book award at the Pristina Book Fair in 2026.

Through her writing, Valbona Banka sets out to make stories that come close to the world of young readers, giving room to adventure, imagination, feeling, and the relationships that shape the experience of childhood and adolescence.
